And but so, Arnaud is in Madagascar for the third time. It’s been about two (2) months now, one more to go. A lot was achieved already: the final AlaReLa project exhibition at the Institut Francais de Madagascar (with two (2) openings, a public one and one for participants of the Wetland conference also organized by AlaReLa where Arnaud gave a presentation as well) was a great success. Arifidy Rafalimanana and Arnaud shared three (3) weeks of display of their pictures of the Alaotra region. The exhibition is now packed and shipped to Ambatondrazaka where it will be shown from the 7th to the 11th of December 2016. In the meantime Arnaud is back in the field around the lake. He’s been working with an Italian brother (not a priest, a brother…) having done more than 40 (forty) years of work in Imerimandroso based on carpentry, foresting and agriculture. He’s been at the Bandro Festival in Andreba-Gara (a bandro is an endemic lemur living in the marshes of the lake Alaotra: Hapalemur alaotrensis) and will do a photo report on a local conservationist of the Bandro’s habitat collaborating with Durell and MWC (Madagascar Wildlife Conservation). All this photoreports will be show at the Agency Le Pictorium.

And so on… He also took some time off to go see some landscapes away from the Alaotra region but also in the Alaotra region: baobabs, tsingy de bemaraha, lemurs, orchids and many more.

Et donc Arnaud est de retour à Madagascar. Cela fait déjà deux mois qu’il vadrouille ici et il reste encore un mois de terrain. Déjà pas mal de choses ont été faites : principalement l’exposition finale du projet AlaReLa à l’Institut Francais de Madagasar à Antananarivo où ses photographies des habitants de la région du lac Alaotra ont été exposées en compagnie de celles d’Arifidy Rafalimanana. Deux vernissages ont eu lieu, l’un ouvert au public et l’autre pour les participants de la conférence sur les Zones Humides organisée par AlaReLa (où Arnaud a donné une présentation, toujours en compagnie d’Arifidy). Actuellement les images sont arrivées à Ambatondrazaka la capitale régionale où les photos ont été prises et une exposition est programmée du 7 au 11 décembre, avec des ateliers prévus pour les enfants. Depuis qu’il est de retour autour du lac Alaotra, Arnaud travaille sur divers reportages en rapport avec la culture et l’environnement : un frère italien qui gère une école de menuiserie, un “conservationniste” de MWC (Madagascar Wildlife Conservation) et Durell qui tente de sauver l’habitat du lémurien endémique Bandro (Hapalemur Alaotrensis), un festival culturel nommé Feraomby dans la commune d’Anororo, des villages impactés par les découvertes de carrières de pierre précieuse qui ouvrent et ferment, etc. Ces reportages apparaitront ici ou sur le site de l’agence Le Pictorium quand Arnaud rentrera en France en fin d’année.

Arnaud a aussi fait un peu de tourisme, parce que Madagascar est riche et variée et il serait dommage de se cantonner à ce lac Alaotra…
